About

Ginger Aromatica evolved out of a long-held dream of Mary Blewitt OBE to set up a social enterprise that helps improve the emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of people in need.

For many years, Mary herself held a high-level, stressful professional job, whilst raising her own children. She knows how challenging modern life can be, and importance of taking time to recharge to maintain your emotional, physical, mental and spiritual health. She firmly believes that wellness of mind, body and soul is essential for a good life and to reduce your daily stress.

Since 1994, Mary has dedicated her life to survivors of the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda: building homes, providing education, healthcare and micro-finance support to thousands of genocide widows and orphans. She spent many years listening to traumatic testimonies of the survivors. Frustrated by inability to alleviate their stress, anxiety and depression. Mary pursued advanced studies to better understand these issues and learn complementary therapies that can treat them through natural healing.

Mary lives and works in Central London, in the  UK.

The stress of our fast-paced modern world can, and often does, take a toll on a person’s health. The ups and downs of everyday life inevitably affect the mind and the body. Everyone feels at times stressed out. We begin to notice various symptoms which often are stress-related: headaches, back pains, digestive problems, lower resistance to colds and infections, high blood pressure, irritability, emotional exhaustion. However you do not need to suffer, as there are many special treatments which can alleviate these ailments

Soft Tissue Mobilisation (STM)

60 minutes – £85

Soft Tissue Mobilization is a form of manual physical therapy that uses hands-on techniques on muscles, ligaments and fascia with the goal of breaking or reducing adhesions, or inelastic / fibrous muscle tissue (called ‘myofascial adhesions’), improving range of motion, lengthening muscle and tendon, reducing swelling and Oedema (edema) and optimizing muscle function.

Implementation of soft tissue mobilization techniques requires a significant amount of training in human anatomy and physiology and understanding of how manipulating the tissues will impact physical function. The treatment involves an evaluation, assessment and treatment of movement function disorders. Soft tissue mobilization is just one of the strategies that we use to help our patients meet their functional goals.

Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

60 minutes – £85

Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle, full-body massage treatment, which helps to detoxify the body and stimulate the body’s immune system to promote healing and to fight infection. The lymphatic system is a broad system of vessels, which transport fluid between the lymph glands. This process uses muscular movements to trigger its infection fighting detox function. Through gentle massage, the lymphatic system helps the body move excess toxins, water and metabolic waste in a way that cleanses, detoxifies the body and boosts the immune system.  It is used to treat fluid retention, as a way of reducing swelling caused by fluid that can build-up after cancer treatment, or Oedema in pregnancy.

Remedial & Sports Therapy

60 minutes – £85

Sports and Remedial Massage is effective for many kinds of muscular and soft tissue problems as well as injury, whether it is due to posture, occupational stress or sporting activities.

Remedial Massage Therapy

Remedial Massage Therapy is an umbrella term that includes a variety of treatment techniques such as trigger point release, myofascial release, deep tissue massage, lymphatic drainage, and neuromuscular release, used to help fix damaged joints or soft tissue. A typical treatment may include: massage, mobilisations, tractions, rehabilitation exercises / stretches, postural assessment and a mixture of the techniques, aimed at draining away fatigue, relieving swelling, reducing muscle tension, promoting flexibility and preventing injuries.

Sports Massage Therapy

Sports Massage Therapy uses a wide range of deeper, advanced massage techniques to aid recovery from activity, maintain healthy muscle and tissue, and prevent and rehabilitate sporting (and non-sporting) injuries. Part of the treatment involves the assessment of joints and tissues in order to establish the likely causes (sporting or otherwise) of damage, injury or misuse. Sports Therapy Techniques used, such as Muscle Energy Techniques (METs), address muscle imbalances and postural issues by releasing the muscle tension which can lead to overuse injuries and chronic aches and pains. Regular Sports Massage can shorten recovery time, improve muscle condition and range of motion, and promote relaxation and mental well being.
